Morogoro, Tanzania

   ​Nicole Mauthe, an ambassador for Aviation For Humanity, visited an orphanage in Morogoro, Tanzania.
 
   Morogoro, also known informally as "Mji kasoro bahari ", which translates to "city short of an ocean/port" is home to about 300,000 people.  Located within the city zone, the Mgolole Orphanage Center is home to roughly 53 children ages four-months to 16+ years old.  Nicole delivered pens, pencils, notebooks, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. In hopes of supporting the local economy, she also purchased local food and delivered these items to the orphanage as well. 
 
  Nicole interacted with the children and learned about the facilitiy’s two projects, which she explains here:
 
  House Project: Constructing houses all around the orphanage center to assign four kids to each house including two 'parents' that live with them full time.  This model hopes to provide a family structure to prevent orphans from any psychological neglect.  The facility believes that creating an artificial family, while giving children their own private space, supports healthy development of children.
 
  Chicken Project: This will assist the children’s diets while saving money. Part of this project includes creating the feed for the chickens, maintaining the coop, and caring for the animals.
