The High Flying Women of Business Aviation

Picture
"My first business aviation job was on a Learjet 60 based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I flew all around Southeast Asia on a year contract before returning to the USA.

I was totally hooked on business aviation. I loved the complexity of the trips, organizing and managing the details of the flights, and seeing remote regions of the world. That was ten years ago, and while I’ve changed jobs and jets a couple of times, I’ve never left business aviation."

Incredible People Making Aviation A Force For Good, And How You Can Help

"If you’re like me, aviation has given you a lot – not just a career, but a lifetime of wonder, beauty, excitement, and joy. Aviation is special – that’s why we’re in it. And it’s no secret that we’re going through a tough time right now in the eyes of the public. So, when I see aviation giving back – doing something for the world – it’s important to highlight and bring attention to that. We need more of this."

“Traveling has allowed me to experience many cultures and witness first-hand the rampant inequities that exist worldwide.  These experiences laid the foundation for creating the non-profit Aviation for Humanity, which uses the traveling public to bring school supplies to children and shelters throughout the developing world. It is a way for the industry to give back to those affected by aviation but not necessarily benefiting from it. My goal for the non-profit is to support youth education, empower children, and offer travelers an opportunity to expand their broad-mindedness and receptivity to new cultures through humanitarian aid. This is a way for the aviation industry to give back one traveler and one backpack at a time.”

Aviation for Humanity received recognition from the Aviation International News magazine.

Excerpt from the article written by Alexa Rexroth:

"My goal is to provide a way for a traveler to have a great interaction with students, so when they get home, they are enthusiastic to do more. I hope that my nonprofit is the catalyst for more humanitarian work,” said Perkins.

Aviation for Humanity has delivered supplies all around the world through the efforts of volunteers. This year, Perkins said, “Uzbekistan and Mongolia are looking like real possibilities. We have someone out in Kenya right now and another traveler set up for a school visit in Tanzania later this summer. I am personally taking supplies to Nepal this October.”

Last year, the organization handed out 500 backpacks and is looking for sponsorship from a company to purchase pencil cases and backpacks for 2018 donations."
